I like his use of stencils and I love the color pallet of his latest works. Some info from Wikipedia:

Frank Shepard Fairey (born February 15, 1970) is an American contemporary graphic designer, and illustrator who emerged from the skateboarding scene. He first became known for his “André the Giant Has a Posse” (…OBEY…) sticker campaign, in which he appropriated images from the comedic supermarket tabloid Weekly World News. His work became more widely known in the 2008 U.S. presidential election, specifically his Barack Obama “Hope” poster. The Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston calls him one of today’s best known and most influential street artists. His work is included in the collections at The Smithsonian, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

My blog has a brand new look. New theme implemented. I hope you like what you see.

<img src="http://fredstuff.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/02/blog_feb_2011.jpg" alt="" title="blog_feb_2011" width="280" height="237" align="left" size-full wp-image-7244" />Dear reader. I love to tinker with WordPress and from time to time I change the blog theme. I know I will change it again some day, that’s why I included a (small) screenshot of the current look. I went with a dark theme, it’s way easier on the eyes. Read my blog and your Facebook headache will be nothing but a distant memory. Seriously though, I’ve spent a few hours getting this (current) them to my linking and as usual I stumbled, broke things and almost lost it.

All this trouble means that I now know even more when it comes to WordPress. A few things remain to be implemented; social links, some additional CSS and PHP work and the sidebar needs some extra tweaking. I do all of this for myself — and for you, my readers. I hope you like what you see, I know I do. Even more important is the fact that I enjoy blogging again. I believe I did mention that I’d pick up the pace around New Years — as a way to kind of “pressure” myself into actually doing it. Here I am, typing away like (almost) never before. I even got the few upcoming posts in the works. Let’s do this!

UPDATE: Well, that design did not last very long — it was smart of me to include a shot of the way it looked. Back to the trusty, old (and still modern) theme.

Now this is cool. A 13th-century Dominican church in Maastricht, Holland turned into a bookstore by architecture firm Merkx+Girod. It’s a Flash site so there’s no way to link to the project, insted go to their site and click;

Projects>Retail>Shops>Selexyz Bookstores>Maastricht.

Crazy, it’s 2009 guys, Flash?

Every time I visit a church I get the feeling I want to turn it into a nightclub or a venue for live music – not that I have the funds to do it – but you get the idea.

I don’t like Sundays and in a little while its that time of the week again. A good site can cure me temporarily for a few minutes, a site filled with great visuals to ignite my creative engine. The Design Inspiration is just what the doctor ordered. This site is filled to the brim with inspirational articles, logo design, illustrations, patterns and great font designs. C’mon Sunday – bring it on!

Huge list of useful vector packs in Photoshop and Illustrator format - almost 6,000 of them!

<img src="http://fredstuff.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/all-silhouettes.com_2.jpg" alt="" title="all-silhouettes.com_2" width="560" height="492" align="centered" size-full wp-image-7733" />
About 90% of the sets include .AI (Adobe Illustrator) and .CHS (Photoshop Custom Shapes) vector format. I’ll let the sites creator Stanislav describe what his site is all about:

“During my 10 years experience in Graphic Design I find that silhouettes is one of the most useful tool in any design work! It is easy to mix and modify for any needs. I saw a lot of silhouettes on different sites and blogs all over Internet but most of them are commercial, it sucks. So I decide to create a place for collecting and free sharing all possible silhouettes, shapes, signs and icons. I’m going to share tons of vector silhouettes I created during my long life time as a designer.”

All Silhouettes are compatible with: Adobe Illustrator 8+, Photoshop, Corel Draw and Freehand. Visit All Silhouettes and check them out!
