Holy moly, close to TEN days without a single update on the blog. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again a thousand times; having your own independent blog funded out of your own pocket is soooooo nice. Not having to worry about ad revenue and SEO optimization. What a rat race that must be. Anyway, I’m back in the wood shop! The place looks just as we left it before the summer hiatus. I’m relieved to have the traumatic moment of slot cutting with the router behind me, I was worried, not about the design but the fact that the wood easily get burned when routing. Lo and behold — it went without a hitch. Or spark. I present you with two giant photos of the Birch Cutting Boards:

Routed handle for easy lifting

I’m going to sand the edges down just a tad. The edges need to be quite sharp to give the “handles” some grip when lifting. Some additional sanding (by hand) remains still and then it’s time for some coats of finish. I hate to let them go and I’d really like to keep at least one for myself. If I do miss them when they’re gone I can always do two more, or ten.
