No new posts from me the last few days. That’s just the way it is. This post: A brand new track — released on Jan 17 — from MNDR, the American duo consisting of Amanda Warner and Peter Wade. I’m really not sure if they are still a duo though, or if Amanda (MNDR) is going at it as a solo act, but that’s what Wikipedia says anyways. If you feel like buying it; click here to go to the record label. I can listen (and I do) to this track on repeat. Mostly because it’s good but also because my temporary neighbor is seemingly 99% deaf; his TV is constantly blasting through the wall.

I found this track at the end of December. Had I made a best of list for 2011 this track would have been in there for sure. Only info on YouTube: “One Second Of Love is out 3/3 on Secretly Canadian.” More info @ the record label.

A new demo from Marina that was posted on YouTube yesterday. I like it — it kind of reminds me of ABBA, don’t know why, don’t care. This is the only info on YouTube: “Demo from my 2nd album, “Electra Heart”. Spread the ?..” (the “?” is supposed to be a heart symbol). Nothing on the Electra Heart blog either, just a bunch of pictures. Now I’m eagerly awaiting PART 3 of three three part video thing, I wonder when it’ll show up. I urged her on Twitter but she’s ignoring me. Haha.

What style to write in and how to go about describing “Voyage”; the debut album from The Sound of Arrows. The instrumental version — or the “The Instrumental Experience” as it’s called is currently playing in the background and it’s just as good as the “normal” one with vocals. I can almost never sit through a whole album in one sitting when listening to it for the first time but this one, no problem. The tracks that we love and have had a chance to listen to prior to the release of the album (Nova, Into the Clouds, Magic) are now fused together with a slew of new tracks and the work is now complete.

Brand new video uploaded to YouTube (31 views!) to the track “Wonders”.

I have to be honest though, there were several instances where I thought that tracks sounded sub par at the start but they all explode or develop into something wonderful. Picking the best track on the album is not hard, it’s impossible. This is Swedish Widescreen pop at its finest and I love it.

War Of Words – Panic by wearewarofwords

I found this song today (thank you Jonas!) by UK duo War of Words and have been listening to it on repeat ever since. The track was uploaded to SoundCloud just 11 days ago and info on the act is really, really sparse (only 167 Likes on Facebook this far!). Some info from their record label Popjustice Hi-Fi:

‘Panic’ is one of two singles we’re releasing on the Popjustice Hi-Fi label by eyewateringly brilliant new duo War Of Words. The song’s produced and co-written by La Roux’s Ben Langmaid.

Just a quick tip to the band: get better promo pics dammit. They are all (the three of them) really badly cropped — am I missing something here? I did the best I could with what was on offer. Not much info in the following links either, mind you this is brand new stuff, I guess we’ll know more in time. Like a cat in the headlights.

November 7:th 2011; the release date for The Sound Of Arrows debut album Voyage is still a few weeks away. The track — or clip, rather — in the video is “There Is Still Hope”, track no. 10 on the album. A user over at the Popjustice forum got to listen to the whole album and wrote a fantastic post about each track. If all goes to plan I’m attending the official release party here in Stockholm on the 4:th of November. Me and a friend are planning to make our own merchandise (T-shirts) to wear at the event. I. Can’t. Wait.

This is a great documentary on the life and career of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister. Too bad the trailer is of such crappy quality (and the fact that they choose Steve Vai as the thumbnail?!) — all I can say is; see this one if you like good documentaries. The rating on IMDB is 7.7/10 and that’s about right — I’d give it a 8/10. If you didn’t like Lemmy (who on earth wouldn’t) before seeing this, you’ll love him when the film is over. He’s exactly like he’s portrayed, and the way he’s portraying himself. I know because I’ve met him here in Stockholm. Dressed in all black and a cowboy hat with a Marlboro in his mouth and a Jack & Coke in each hand. It wasn’t even in a rock club, it was in one of the trendier clubs at the time. He was nice and took time to talk to people (who wanted to talk to him). In short: See it!

New track from Andreas Kleerup (who wrote Robyns “With Every Heartbeat“) and his new act Me And My Army. A little bit of everything in one; Petty, E.L.O, and so on (they state this in their bio as well). I like this new direction he’s taking, I think “On My Own Again” was the best track from his solo debut back in 2008 — Me And My Army is more in that direction.

I thought I should post a track by M83 since I did mention them in the previous post (about White Sea). Info from Last.fm:

M83 (named after the spiral galaxy “Messier 83”) is electronic artist Anthony Gonzalez. Gonzalez and former member Nicolas Fromageau founded the group in 2001 in Antibes, France. M83’s style owes a lot to the shoegaze genre, in that there is much emphasis on tonality, extensive use of reverb effects and often softly-spoken lyrics at times submerged in instrumentation.
